I was watching my Christmas present - G3 Live w/ Satriani, Vai, and Eric Johnson - and I noticed in the bios on the DVD that it mentioned Vai playing in the movie Crossroads. I'd heart that before, so on a whim I fired up the search in YouTube, and found this:

Now I've got to see the rest of the movie...

Anon , make sure you get the one with Ralph Macchio in it , not the Britney Spears one lol .
The final piece at the end is just awesome , Ry Cooder gets most of the credit for all the actual playing , but it was really a bloke called Arnold ?? , can't remember his last name .

Hmm. I thought I'd heard where Vai had played both guitar parts.

Didnt Vai teach Macchio to play the guitar for this movie? It is by far the best movie that Ralph Macchio played in. He was ok in the Karate Kid movies (although with my martial arts training I could kick his butt) :D

And when all is said and done I can go home :D

I remember reading that he took some lessons to be able to fake it well enough for the movie - but I don't remember reading who actually taught him.

No, I can't remember the guy's name, but one of the coaches was Arlen Roth.

And yes, Vai, did almost all of the guitar parts, except for the slide parts, which were done by Ry Cooder.

As much as I'd like to see Vai get the credit Will , see the link I posted .
I remember reading just after the movie came out , an article about Arlen Roth . How Ry Cooder took all the credit & didn't even mention Arlen , even the album doesn't mention him .
Aaahhh , the terrible ego of a ROCK STAR lol .
