| I've added some weight lifting to my M/W/F workouts (so I can move the PA system around easier ) and I was thinking about why I had some of the artists on my mp3 player. If you had to compose a list of 10 guitarists who's sound you just loved, who would be on that list? (If needed, you can specify a particular band)
In no particular order: - Joe Satriani
- John Petrucci
- Edward Van Halen
- Tom Morello
- Eric Clapton
- Dave Matthews
- Stevie Ray Vaughn
- Jake E. Lee (when he did the Badlands stuff)
- Billy Gibbons
- Jimmy Hendrix (but I like to keep my guitar in tune)
- Will Rauser (Couldn't help it )
Please keep in mind, its not that I don't love some other artists. But, if I ever really got playing these are the people who I'd like people to say "Gee, I hear a little ___ in there." | There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you. - Will Rogers |

| Hmmmm....For sound, my list would have to include;
#1: Edward Van Halen (particularly the first 4 albums)
#2: Gary Moore (All of his solo albums)
#3: George Lynch (w/ Lynch Mob)
#4: Zakk Wylde ("No More Tears" album)
#5: Tony Palacios ("Miracle Mile" album)
#6: John Sykes ("Whitesnake" and "Blue Murder" albums)
#7: Joe Satriani (almost everything)
#8: Neal Schon (Journey's "Captured" live album)
#9: Jake E. Lee (Badlands and Ozzy stuff)
#10:John Petrucci ("Images And Words" album)
For Personal Influence, my top ten are:
#1: EVH #2: Joe Satriani #3: Steve Vai #4: George Lynch #5: Jake E. Lee #6: Micheal Schenker #7: John Petrucci #8: Paul Gilbert #9: Randy Rhoads #10:Yngwie Malmsteen #11:Gary Moore/ Neal Schon (I know I said top 10, but Gary Moore is a huge influence on me, to not list him would be a sin..well, not a sin, but close to one...And Neal Schon was my #2 guy for a long time, because I discovered him at the same time I discovered VH...lol)
Anon, the fact that you even included me within that esteemed group is quite flattering....I don't belong anywhere near them, but I am honored anyway... | "C'mon Dave, Gimme a break!" | Edited by - AXEMAN2415 on 23 May 2007 17:57:42

| I figured you would have Zakk Wylde in there somewhere. I've had some tracks off of "Book of Shadows" in my Blues mix the last few weeks. It never ceases to amaze me that he can sing like that. I just never expected it. | There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you. - Will Rogers | |

| Yeah, I don't know why I forgot Keaggy. I have seen him 3 times, and he's a shredder, on electric and acoustic. | "C'mon Dave, Gimme a break!" | |

| So many talented guitarists, such little room on a top 10 list.
I was originally going to add that I really liked the sound Nickelback got on their latest album. Not that I didn't like some of their earlier stuff, but I like the latest the best. | There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you. - Will Rogers

| Who, Keaggy? No, he's all US.
In doing my fact-checking, I found out that he wasn't originally a Christian artist. I would have never guessed. | There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you. - Will Rogers

| No discussion about sound could be complete without adding this amazing video of Layla being performed as a duet by Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler.
