How would I go about getting a good, clean, but thick bass sound? I'm not sure I'm quite explaining it right... Just looking for something that resonates and feels full. How's that for vague?

I was running from the Digitech BP200 to the board. I think its got an EQ on it.... I'll have to dig through the settings again. I know it also has some amp modeling.

Guess I'll just have to keep playing around with it.

Cue "The Crocodile Hunter":

Crikey, he's a hard beast to trap. Watch as the fledgling musician warily circles the elusive 'sound I'm looking for' - few manage to come close to even getting a handle on 'em.

(My deepest apologies to the memory of Steve Irwin)

Well, yeah, but I think bass sounds better recorded direct to the board, if you use a good direct box. I've never liked the sound of a bass recorded from the direct out of an amp.

I'm guessing I should have mic'd it instead of running it direct then...

Well, I'll suggest a ggod Equalizer for bass. You can tweak the frequencies by using your ear, and it will help you get a good idea of how your bass responds through that small speaker you have.

I guess I should add the "why I'm asking" part...

As I was preparing to leave the gym tonight, I got this bass riff stuck in my head (I know, there's plenty of resonance there... shut up Axeman). It stuck with me the whole trip home, so I wrote it down and recorded a few passes with it.

Side note: you never realize how off your timing is until you see the waveforms on the screen... embarrassing.

Anyway, I like what I got in the sense that its close enough for me to revisit it later. But, I'd like a thicker sound once I get the rest of it right.... so y'all got some time to reply.
