Sorry I haven't been around much, I've been getting caught up on some work I'd promised Larry and the guys over at the Eastover Fire Department (http://www.eastoverfd.com). I just had to share this - you'll understand why in a minute. 
Apparently over at EFD they have a meeting every Thursday, and every 5th Thursday is a big meeting. Well, today was one of those big meetings and Larry asked me to rush some of the updates we'd been talking about and I just fell behind on so he could show off the site at tonight's meeting.
Well, I got most of the quick changes done and he called me to let me know he was demoing it (a.k.a. don't work on it any more lest I demo an error). Later he called me to let me know he was done, and ... quote:
oh, yeah... I deleted a topic I didn't mean to. Any way I can undelete it?
No?
Any way you can undelete it?
Oh. Ok.

All things being equal, I'd just as soon you didn't have to call at all.

How much longer are you going to let Will use the site? What's a terabyte of storage compared to 3 am calls from Will starting out "I know you're either going to be really upset or really amused, but..."? |

Ah yes. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
I've been working out the logistics on letting the forum "archive" deleted material just in case. I'm trying to decide if its worth taking up the extra storage, and if I should include an option to permanently delete - just in case the spammers finally do get through. |

That's ok. I erased one user's data the other day. Yes, one click of the button and six years of data was gone. He said he had backed it up. He backed it up to a different folder on his hard drive.
Rule #1) Don't trust the user.
Rule #2) Everyone is a user. |
