T O P I C R E V I E W | AnonJr | Posted - 14 Nov 2009 : 12:08:22 Recently Aimee Mullins has been making an appearance as a guest author on tech site Gizmodo for their week long spree of articles called "This Cyborg Life" (yes, there has been a fair amount of cheese)
While most of the articles have fallen in the "neat" category, and some the "stupid", and some naturally went in a NSFW direction. The article I'm going to link to is probably the most thought-provoking of all the articles they posted this past week.
Racing on Carbon Fiber Legs: How Abled Should We Be?
As a reminder for those who don't know/remember: Aimee Mullins had both legs amputated below the knee. Her family doctor said she'd never learn to walk. At the age of 19, she set world records in the 100-meter dash and long jump.
That was Aimee Mullins the athlete, running on early prototypes of now-commonplace carbon fiber legs. Since the 1996 Paralympics, she's worked as a fashion model, a speaker, and an actress, while making her way into more sports and culture publications than we can count.
